and different, Unique Equine combines fashion and style to provide
an alternative to the ordinary. We offer the most extensive
palette of color choices for custom products and we take pride that our
selection of colors and prints will not be found anywhere else!
In the fall of 2007, Unique Equine expanded the product line and opened a retail store located in Topsfield, MA. Our full product line includes apparel, accessories and necessities for the equestrian lifestlyle and that are true to our mission to provide unique, fun and fashionable products. We hope that you find a refreshing selection of items to add style and individuality to your own ensemble!
About the Owner
Hi, I'm Cheryl, Owner and Founder of Unique Equine, and the dark bay horse that you see throughout the website and pictured above at right is 'Jimmie James,' an off-the-track thoroughbred I've owned for 8 years.
I have been horse crazy since I was 6 years old, taking lessons, going to camp (YMCA Camp Conrad Weiser) and actively showing hunter, pleasure and equitation in Pennsylvania (PJA, CCHSA) and the mid-atlantic region through the '80s and '90s. As a young rider, I was continually searching for more colorful accessories to add some flare to the primarily conservative options. I dressed my chestnut horse in Hunter Green and Purple even though my trainer cringed when I showed up for lessons with alternating purple and green polos! But I was also happy to show my stable pride with their colors of Navy and Gold for shows and special occasions.
I went to college at the University of Delaware and lucked out that their colors were Navy and Gold as well, so I could still use my stable sheet and equipment bags that I already had! At the University of Delaware, I was a member of the Equestrian team for all four years, finishing 5th Under Saddle at the IHSA National Finals in 1994 (judged by George Morris!) and, after graduation, winning the Alumni Over Fences Championship at the 1996 National Finals at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in California.
In 2003, after a stint working for a major equestrian retailer, I was still searching for some tastefully different products to add some style to my riding ensemble. Unable to find anything fun that was also affordable, I founded Unique Equine to offer others a way to show their individuality and self-expression.
It all started with a few print polo wraps and a quarter sheet, then expanded to include other accessories and horse clothing. The people at the barn really liked my fashions, so I put together a website and now have a retail business!
Today, in addition to actively running the retail store, Jimmie and I show at our leisure but love to take advantage of the miles of trails in the Essex County trail system throughout the north shore of MA. I play an active role with several local associations that help build the sport and protect the areas where we ride. I help the North Shore Horsemen's Association and the Essex County Trail Association with their website and volunteer with the Essex County Horse Organization.

OUR PRODUCTS
Performance fabrics (fleece and moisture-wick fabric) are manufactured
by Polartec, LLC. Some colors shown
on the swatches page may be available in limited quantities. The
website is updated frequently to provide you with the most up
to date information on color availability, however some colors
and prints which are available for a limited time basis may not
be available at the time of your order. Customers will be notified
if a particular color or print is not available.
ORDERING
Most items are made-to-order and may take up to 3 to 4 weeks for
standard delivery. Orders may be placed online, or by calling
978-210-7183. Credit cards are accepted for online orders through
our secure payment system. Credit cards will be charged at the
time that work starts on your item. Orders may also be placed
by sending email to info@unique-equine.com
or by mailing order form with payment to: Unique Equine, 374 Boston Street, Topsfield, MA 01983.
SHIPPING
In most cases, packages are sent via USPS priority (2-3 day) service.
Notification and shipping information will be sent by email when
your package ships.
GUARANTEE
We stand behind our work. All Unique Equine products are guaranteed for workmanship for 1 year after purchase. Any product that requires repair or
replacement due to manufacturing defects will be accepted for
return or repair. Return shipping is paid by customer. Custom
items (blankets, sheets, and monogrammed or appliqued items) will
be accepted for repairs only. Returns for these items will be
accepted only in the case of misspellings or errors on the part
of Unique Equine.
CARE OF YOUR UNIQUE EQUINE PRODUCTS
All products are machine washable. Fasten all velcro and buckles
before washing and follow instructions on the care tag included with your item.
Fleece and Scrim Products: Machine
wash warm or cold, gentle cycle, tumble dry low. Wash with like
fabrics. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Do not dry clean.
Do not iron.
Stable Sheets: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle.
Line dry. Wash with like fabrics. Do not use bleach or fabric
